The Parañaque City government has launched an investigation into one of its employees following an alleged road rage incident involving a female driver who reported being pursued to her subdivision gate after overtaking a vehicle.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Oct. 13, the city government confirmed that the worker has been identified and directed to submit a written explanation while officials determine if administrative charges are warranted.
“The City does not tolerate conduct unbecoming of a public servant, on or off duty,” the statement read, citing Republic Act No. 6713, or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, which mandates that government personnel exhibit courtesy, restraint, and respect toward the public.
The encounter gained public attention after the woman recounted the experience in a social media post early Sunday, Oct. 11.
“This driver followed me up to the gate of our subdivision just because I overtook his car,” she wrote in a post written in Filipino and English.
The driver alleged that the employee pursued her car after the overtake, continuously sounding the horn and flashing high-beam headlights while following her.
She also raised concerns over the individual’s conduct, pointing out her belief that the driver was a government employee.
The Parañaque City government stated that the administrative inquiry will be handled in line with Civil Service regulations and due process standards.
“We thank the public for their vigilance and ask for patience while the process runs its course,” the city government also said, adding that updates will be released when appropriate.
