Globe Telecom has fully restored its internet connectivity services following a temporary disruption along an international subsea fiber-optic cable segment that impacted mobile and broadband subscribers nationwide.
The telecommunications company confirmed that data traffic across the impacted undersea link has returned to baseline performance after engineering teams reactivated the system and restored damaged optical fiber connections.
During the onset of the physical cable fault, subscribers experienced increased latency, reduced browsing speeds, and intermittent connectivity across select online applications. Technical teams mitigated the impact by rerouting data through redundant terrestrial routes and alternative international backup links while physical repairs were organized.
“Our teams are working continuously to ease congestion and restore normal internet service as quickly as possible. In parallel, we are working with our partners to validate the cause of the disruption,” Joel Agustin, Globe senior vice president and head of Network Planning and Engineering, said during the restoration response.
The company also said its primary IT systems remained fully operational throughout the occurrence.
With connection metrics returning to normal parameters across affected regions, the telecommunications provider expressed appreciation to the public for their cooperation during the service recovery period.
“Globe thanks its customers for their patience and understanding throughout the disruption,” the company also said.
