Police arrested two suspected drug personalities and seized about P374,000 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Payatas, Quezon City, early Friday.
In a statement, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said operatives from Batasan Police Station (PS 6) carried out the operation at around 5 a.m. along Everlasting Street, Area A, following a tip from a concerned citizen on alleged drug activities in the area.
The suspects, identified by their aliases “Emmie” and “Dennis,” both 44 and residents of Payatas, were arrested after an undercover officer acting as poseur-buyer purchased P10,000 worth of suspected shabu and gave the pre-arranged signal.
Authorities recovered about 55 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P374,000, along with a mobile phone, a coin purse, and marked buy-bust money.
Police said both suspects have previous cases for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Charges for violation of the anti-drug law are being prepared against the suspects before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
QCPD Director Police Brig. Gen. Randy Glenn Silvio said the operation underscores the district’s sustained campaign against illegal drugs.
“Ang tagumpay ng operasyong ito ay nagpapatunay na ang QCPD ay hindi tumitigil sa pagsugpo sa ilegal na droga. Magtulungan po tayo, QCitizens at QCPD, laban sa krimen,” Silvio said.
