Police arrested a DILG-listed national most wanted person in Roxas, Oriental Mindoro, the Philippine National Police said.
The suspect, identified only by the alias “Noel,” was arrested on July 2 in Barangay Odiong.
Authorities were serving multiple warrants for murder, attempted murder, and frustrated murder when the suspect was apprehended.
Police said they also seized from him a caliber .45 pistol, two magazines, and 16 rounds of ammunition.
The operation was carried out by the 10th Special Action Battalion of the Special Action Force, which provided tactical support to the Provincial Intelligence Team Oriental Mindoro, Regional Intelligence Unit 4B, and other PNP units.
The suspect and the seized firearm and ammunition were turned over to the Roxas Municipal Police Station for documentation, filing of appropriate charges, and proper disposition.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said the arrest showed the importance of intelligence-driven operations in going after fugitives facing serious criminal charges.
“This arrest reflects the strength of intelligence-driven police operations and the unwavering resolve of the PNP to locate and apprehend fugitives who pose a threat to public safety and the rule of law,” Nartatez said.
“Patuloy nating tutugisin ang mga taong may kinahaharap na mabibigat na kaso. Ang bawat pag-aresto ay hakbang para matiyak na maipapatupad ang hustisya,” he added.
The PNP said it would continue operations against wanted persons nationwide.
