Metro Pacific Tollways Corp. (MPTC) posted an eight-percent growth in toll revenues during the first half of 2026, driven by newly opened road segments and sustained traffic growth in Indonesia, which offset a slight decline in domestic vehicular volume.
In a financial statement released Monday, August 31, the tollway operator reported P19.6 billion in revenues from January to June 2026, up from P18.15 billion recorded during the same period last year.
Average daily vehicle entries across MPTC’s regional footprint rose by one percent to roughly 2.5 million. Operations in Indonesia led the growth with a three-percent increase, averaging 1.67 million daily entries, while domestic expressways in the Philippines registered an average of 715,200 daily entries.
The top-line performance was supported by the opening of new operational stretches, including the Manila–Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) C5 Link Segment 3B Phase 1 and the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) Subsection 3. In Indonesia, revenue was bolstered by steady logistics activity, scheduled tariff adjustments and improved road connectivity despite ongoing maintenance works.
MPTC noted that its share in the net earnings of equity investments in Indonesia also boosted core profitability. The company’s expanding regional network now spans over 1,100 kilometers across the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam.
“Our first-half results reflect a broader and still-expanding regional business. Traffic in the Philippines is only one part of the picture. New road openings, stronger Indonesian operations and our equity investments all contributed to the period’s performance,” MPTC said in a statement.
MPTC expanded its footprint in Southeast Asia in late 2024 through a strategic equity stake in PT Jasamarga Transjawa Tol (JTT), which oversees a 676-kilometer network of 13 primary toll roads spanning West Java, Central Java and East Java.
On domestic infrastructure, MPTC spent P7.6 billion in capital expenditures during the first six months of the year. This represented a five-percent decrease year-on-year, as right-of-way acquisitions and construction-related delays adjusted completion schedules for ongoing developments.
Active Philippine developments include North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Segment 8.2 Section 1A from Mindanao Avenue to Quirino Highway, the remaining subsections of CALAX, the CAVITEX-CALAX Link Expressway, CAVITEX C5 Link Segment 3B Phase 2 and the NLEX Connector. Financing costs for qualifying projects under construction continue to be capitalized in accordance with financial reporting standards.
Addressing toll rate adjustments, MPTC clarified that fee revisions are implemented only following regulatory approvals from government authorities to sustain operations, routine maintenance and capital investments under existing concession agreements.
The company added that it remains committed to mitigating transport costs by providing over P2 million daily in toll discounts and relief programs for qualified public utility vehicles and freight transport operators.
“Our priority remains the same: keep our roads safe and reliable, finish critical links as quickly as right-of-way and construction conditions allow and deliver better mobility for motorists, commuters, and businesses,” MPTC added.
