Homemade Gun Surrendered in Guimaras Under PNP’s ‘Kontra Boga’ Drive

A homemade firearm was voluntarily surrendered to authorities in Guimaras as part of the Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group’s (PNP-HPG) intensified campaign against loose firearms.

The surrender took place on May 7 at the Provincial Highway Patrol Team (PHPT)-Guimaras office in Barangay San Miguel, Jordan, where a concerned citizen turned over a homemade caliber .38 revolver without a serial number.

Authorities said the individual requested anonymity for security reasons.

The firearm is now under the custody of the PHPT and will undergo ballistic examination and gunpowder residue testing by the Provincial Forensic Unit in line with standard procedures.

Police officials said the voluntary surrender reflects growing cooperation between communities and law enforcement agencies in efforts to prevent crimes involving undocumented firearms.

The HPG continues to encourage the public to support the government’s “Kontra Boga” campaign by surrendering unregistered firearms and reporting illegal weapons activities in their communities.

Authorities reiterated that the campaign aims to reduce the circulation of loose firearms and strengthen public safety nationwide.
