Marcos confirms PCO shakeup, accepts DICT chief Aguda’s resignation

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. confirmed a major cabinet reshuffle on Sunday, accepting the resignation of Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Secretary Henry Aguda and appointing PTV General Manager Lino Cayetano to head the Presidential Communications Office (PCO).

Speaking during a media interview in Singapore before returning to Manila, President Marcos announced that Cayetano will replace acting PCO Secretary Dave Gomez after the Commission on Appointments (CA) bypassed Gomez’s confirmation.

“Na-bypass si Dave, so I guess immediately who will take his place will be Lino. It’s really just a question of formalizing everything,” Marcos said.

Cayetano, a veteran television director, former Taguig City Mayor (2019–2022) and former representative (2013–2016) was appointed general manager of state-run People’s Television Network (PTV) in June 2026. He is the younger brother of Senators Alan Peter and Pia Cayetano.

President Marcos also confirmed accepting the resignation of DICT Secretary Henry Aguda amid Ombudsman investigations into alleged “ghost” connectivity projects within the agency. The President noted that Malacañang originally intended to delay announcing the resignation until a successor was finalized but confirmed the development after Ombudsman Crispin Remulla disclosed the information over the weekend.

Meanwhile, the President dismissed rumors of a potential cabinet swap between Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon and Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Giovanni Lopez.

“Right now, it’s a no,” Marcos stated regarding the proposed post swap. “We can’t do this.”
