President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced a larger fuel price rollback set for next week, saying it would provide much-needed relief to Filipino consumers.

“Sa susunod po na linggo, may mas malaking bawas sa presyo ng langis (Next week, there will be a bigger reduction in oil prices),” the President said in a video message on April 18.

He said diesel prices are expected to drop by about P24.94 per liter, gasoline by P3.41, and kerosene by P2.

“Mas malaki ito kaysa sa rollback nung nakaraang linggo (This is bigger than last week’s rollback),” Marcos said.

“Malinaw ang ibig sabihin nito para sa ating lahat: May ginhawang parating (The message is clear: Relief is coming),” he added.

The President urged oil companies to implement the rollback fully and without delay.

“Ipatupad ninyo ang rollback nang buo, tama at walang pagkaantala (Implement the rollback fully, correctly, and without delay),” he said.

“Ibigay ninyo sa taumbayan ang dapat naman na nasa kanila (Give the public what is rightfully theirs),” he added.

He also assured that government agencies, including the Department of Energy, are ready to act on complaints involving possible violations.

“Bukas ang ating tanggapan at ang Department of Energy (DOE) para sa inyong mga reklamo (Our offices and the Department of Energy are open for your complaints),” he said.

“Kung may paglabag… kikilos kami kaagad (If there are violations… we will act immediately),” he added.

Marcos stressed that the rollback should translate into tangible relief for the public.

“Ang bawat sentimo… ay dapat maramdaman ng bawat Pilipino (Every cent of reduction must be felt by every Filipino),” he said.

“Alam naman namin kung gaano kahalaga ang oras ng bawat kababayan natin (We know how important time is for every Filipino),” he added.

“Ang bawat oras natin ay dapat ginugugol sa ating pamilya, sa eskwela, sa trabaho — hindi po sa nakapila (Our time should be spent on our family, school, and work — not on long lines),” he said.

The President said the government will continue fuel discounts for public utility vehicles and buses, as well as service contracting programs for transport workers.

He also announced a three-month extension for expiring driver’s licenses, student permits, and vehicle registrations, noting that no penalties or surcharges will be imposed during the extension period.

“Kung mag-e-expire ngayong buwan… magiging valid pa rin ’yan hanggang July (If it expires this month… it will remain valid until July),” he said.

Marcos said the rollback forms part of broader government efforts to ease the impact of rising fuel prices.

“Batid namin ang sitwasyon ng bawat Pilipino (We understand the situation of every Filipino),” he said.

“Hindi tayo titigil… hindi natin hahayaan na ang ginhawang ito ay hindi makarating sa taumbayan (We will not stop… we will not allow this relief to not reach the people),” he added.
