Authorities arrested Senator Rodante Marcoleta on Monday after the Sandiganbayan issued a warrant for his arrest in connection with a plunder case, a non-bailable offense.
“He is already under arrest,” Interior Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla said in a message sent at around 10:10 am.
Remulla said Marcoleta was already at the anti-graft court, where he would undergo processing.
“He is at the Sandiganbayan. He has to be processed first,” Remulla added.
Asked whether Marcoleta would be taken to Camp Crame and where he would eventually be detained, Remulla said authorities would first complete the processing.
“We will process him first,” he said.
The Sandiganbayan also ordered the arrest of Marcoleta’s co-accused, former Quezon City Rep. Michael Defensor and businessmen Aristotle Viray and Joseph Espiritu.
