GSIS Sets Aside P15.1-B Emergency Loans for Quake-Hit Members, Pensioners in Mindanao

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has set aside P15.1 billion in emergency assistance for 608,343 members and pensioners affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Mindanao.

GSIS General Manager Wick Veloso said the pension fund is also ready to expedite insurance claims of government agencies whose insured properties were damaged by the quake.

“Our thoughts are with our fellow Filipinos in Mindanao affected by this powerful earthquake,” Veloso said.

“The GSIS is ready to provide accessible financial relief to help our members, pensioners, and partner government agencies recover and rebuild,” he added.

The GSIS Emergency Loan Program is available to qualified active members, as well as old-age and disability pensioners, who live or work in areas placed under a state of calamity by their local government units.

Applications will be accepted until September 7, 2026.

Qualified borrowers with an existing emergency loan may apply for up to P40,000, with net proceeds not exceeding P20,000. Those without an existing emergency loan may borrow up to P20,000.

The loan carries an annual interest rate of six percent and is payable over 36 months. Proceeds will be credited directly to the borrower’s ATM card.

Applications may be submitted through the GSIS Touch mobile app.

Veloso announced the assistance as GSIS met with members, pensioners, agency representatives, and local stakeholders in Roxas City to gather feedback and improve its services.

GSIS also urged government agencies, local government units, and policyholders with GSIS-insured properties damaged by the earthquake to immediately file their claims for faster processing.
