Globe Telecom Inc. said faster approval of telecommunications permits by local government units (LGUs) can accelerate network expansion and improve connectivity, particularly in underserved and remote communities.
The company cited a report by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), which said 12,241 permits and clearances for telecommunications infrastructure projects had been approved across 707 cities and municipalities as of September 2026.
The approvals followed reforms aimed at simplifying local permitting processes, including Executive Order No. 32, issued in 2023, which streamlined requirements for telecommunications and internet infrastructure and directed LGUs to process applications within prescribed timelines and prevent backlogs.
“Faster permitting is important in bringing better connectivity to more Filipinos. We appreciate the efforts of LGUs to simplify these processes and help telecommunications providers move forward with their projects,” Joel Agustin, Globe senior vice president and head of network planning and engineering said.
“Continued cooperation between government and the industry will help us expand our network and reach more communities, especially those that remain underserved,” Agustin also said.
Globe said permitting plays a critical role in translating network plans into actual infrastructure deployment, as shorter processing times allow telecommunications providers to begin construction of cell sites and network upgrades sooner.
The company continues to invest in network improvements to meet growing demand for reliable mobile and home internet services.
In the first half of 2026, Globe recorded P26.3 billion in capital expenditures, with 91 percent allocated to data-related initiatives.
During the same period, the company deployed 878 new 5G sites and 80,052 fiber-to-the-home lines. Its outdoor 5G population coverage also exceeded 98 percent in Metro Manila and key cities in the Visayas and Mindanao.
Globe said sustained network investments, combined with faster and more predictable permitting processes, would help accelerate infrastructure deployment and extend reliable connectivity to more communities nationwide.
The company added that it would continue working with national government agencies and LGUs to support network rollout and expand access to telecommunications services across the country.
