FEO Revokes Dela Rosa Gun License, Firearm Registrations

The Philippine National Police Firearms and Explosives Office  (PNP-FEO) has ordered the revocation of Sen. Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa’s License to Own and Possess Firearms and the registration of firearms under his name.

In an order issued Wednesday, FEO chief Brig. Gen. Jojo Manalad said the revocation was based on Section 4 of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The FEO said Dela Rosa’s firearms license and registrations may be revoked or cancelled if the gun owner has a pending case punishable by imprisonment of at least two years.

FEO legal officer Lt. Col. Domer Tadeo earlier said the FEO board had recommended the cancellation of Dela Rosa’s License to Own and Possess Firearms and Firearms Registration based on the same provision of the law.

Dela Rosa, a former PNP chief, is the subject of an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court. He has been named as one of the alleged co-conspirators of former President Rodrigo Duterte in the crimes against humanity case before the tribunal.

The FEO order said the 117 firearms registered under Dela Rosa’s name must be immediately confiscated or deposited with a supply accountable officer of the FEO or the Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU)  11 in Davao Region.

The order was declared immediately executory.

The FEO also directed the RCSU 11 to serve the formal notice of revocation at Dela Rosa’s address in Davao and facilitate the immediate confiscation or deposit of the firearms.
