The Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), led by Undersecretary Ma. Arlene S. Borja, highlighted its 2026 anti-trafficking advocacy initiatives during the 69th Regular Council Meeting of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) at the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) Building in Makati City.
The gathering brought together representatives from the 16 IACAT member agencies and partner organizations to review ongoing efforts and plan priority programs for the year ahead. Updates from the recently concluded 2027 IACAT Annual Work Planning Workshop were also presented, providing a roadmap for the Council’s activities.
As Chair of the IACAT Advocacy and Communications Committee (ADVOCOM), the CFO presented the committee’s accomplishments and upcoming initiatives. Delivered by John Nichols Ruelos on behalf of the committee, the report focused on preparations for the 2026 National Anti-Trafficking Awareness Month (NATAM) and the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons (WDAT) this July.
The presentation underscored the government’s commitment to raising public awareness, strengthening inter-agency coordination, and intensifying protective measures for vulnerable sectors, as part of a sustained campaign against human trafficking.
