Globe Telecom is urging property developers to integrate connectivity requirements into the early planning and design of residential, commercial, and estate developments to avoid costly retrofitting and ensure digital readiness from day one of occupancy.
“The earlier we bring those perspectives together, the better we can plan for what comes next. While the plans are still being shaped, let us sit down together and determine what needs to be built in from the start, with enough flexibility to evolve over time,” Carl Cruz, Globe president and chief executive said.
Integrating network requirements early gives stakeholders more opportunities to identify infrastructure needs, address potential design constraints, and reduce the cost and complexity of installing connectivity solutions after buildings are completed.
Globe also underscored the importance of incorporating telecommunications infrastructure into building standards as the government reviews the National Building Code of the Philippines.
The company supports recognizing connectivity as an essential utility in modern developments, including provisions for fiber-ready facilities and in-building connectivity solutions.
Embedding these requirements into building standards can help minimize costly retrofitting, improve network readiness, and provide the flexibility needed to accommodate future technologies and increasing demand for digital services.
As connectivity becomes increasingly central to everyday life, homes, offices, and entire communities require infrastructure that can support a wide range of digital activities.
By understanding how developments will be used, Globe said it can work with property stakeholders to integrate appropriate network requirements into development master plans while allowing room for future upgrades and changing needs.
