Filipino Toddler Abandoned in Dubai Repatriated to PH

A two-year-old Filipino girl who was abandoned as an infant in Dubai has safely returned to the Philippines after spending most of her life in a children’s shelter in the United Arab Emirates.

The child arrived at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3 on June 9 aboard a commercial flight following coordinated efforts by the Department of Migrant Workers and UAE authorities.

She was accompanied by Migrant Workers Office-Dubai Social Welfare Attaché Cherrylene G. Girado.

The girl had been under the care of the Family Village shelter in Al Warqa, Dubai, since she was four months old. The facility provided her with a safe and nurturing environment while arrangements for her repatriation were being completed.

The DMW said it coordinated closely with Philippine and UAE authorities to ensure the child’s safe return and proper handover to the appropriate government agencies upon her arrival.

The agency said the repatriation was carried out in line with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to protect and assist Filipinos overseas, particularly vulnerable children, and ensure that no Filipino is left behind.
