CIDG Raids Bulacan Warehouse, Intercepts P3.8M Unregistered Pet Food Products

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested three individuals and confiscated around P3.8 million worth of alleged unregistered pet food products during a raid on a warehouse in Marilao, Bulacan.

Authorities said the operation was conducted on May 8 by personnel of the CIDG National Capital Region Regional Field Unit, CIDG Bulacan Provincial Field Unit, and local police units through the implementation of a search warrant for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 12308, or the Animal Industry Development and Competitiveness Act.

The raid took place inside a warehouse at the PHILASIA Compound in Barangay Sta. Rosa 1, Marilao.

Recovered during the operation were 380 boxes containing more than 456,000 sachets of cat treats, 37,767 cans of assorted pet food, 3,500 packs of meat paste, and several parcels of canned pet products ready for delivery.

Police identified the arrested suspects only by their aliases “Liza,” a warehouse manager and supervisor, and employees “Ed” and “Arni.”

According to CIDG, the suspects were allegedly found storing and offering pet products for sale without the required registration and certification from the Bureau of Animal Industry.

CIDG Director Police Major Gen. Robert Morico II said the law aims to strengthen regulation and quality standards in the animal industry to protect consumers and support food safety.

Authorities said selling or distributing feeds, veterinary products, and related animal products without prior registration with the Bureau of Animal Industry is prohibited under the law.

The CIDG warned that unregistered pet food products may pose health risks to animals due to the possible presence of unsafe or unregulated ingredients.

Police said the confiscated items will undergo proper documentation and verification as investigation and case buildup continue.

The CIDG also urged the public to check whether pet food, feeds, and veterinary products carry valid registration from the Bureau of Animal Industry before purchasing them.
