The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said it has prepositioned millions of relief supplies for families that may be affected once Tropical Storm Domeng enters the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
DSWD Assistant Secretary and spokesperson Irene Dumlao said more than 4.7 million family food packs are on standby, along with 361,000 ready-to-eat food items and 295,000 non-food relief supplies.
Dumlao said the agency’s preparations are part of its response readiness efforts, in line with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to ensure that government assistance is immediately felt during disasters and emergencies.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said Domeng is expected to enter PAR by Thursday evening.
PAGASA said the storm may intensify into a severe tropical storm and could reach typhoon category by Saturday.
While Domeng is less likely to make landfall, the weather bureau said it may still bring gusty conditions to parts of the country.
The DSWD said its field offices and response teams remain on alert to support local government units once assistance is needed.
