DSWD Distributes Relief Aid to Inday, Habagat Victims

The Department of Social Welfare and Development has begun distributing relief assistance to families affected by Typhoon Inday and the enhanced southwest monsoon in several parts of the country.

Based on the agency’s Disaster Response Operations Monitoring, Information and Communication report as of 6 a.m. Friday, the DSWD provided more than ₱69,000 worth of humanitarian assistance to families affected by heavy rains in Canlaon City, Negros Oriental.

DSWD Field Office 9 also released more than ₱23,000 worth of aid for immediate distribution to affected residents in Zamboanga City.

Dumlao, who also serves as DSWD spokesperson, said the agency distributed ready-to-eat food boxes to passengers stranded at ports due to the severe weather.

In Soccsksargen, DSWD Field Office 12 prepared 1,000 ready-to-eat food boxes, 200 sleeping kits and 50 rolls of tarpaulin for families affected by Inday in Malapatan, Sarangani.

The field office also readied more than 29,000 family food packs for distribution in Sultan Kudarat.

The DSWD said its field offices remain in close coordination with local government units to ensure the swift delivery of assistance to communities affected by the typhoon and the enhanced southwest monsoon.
