Columban College Probes Viral Classroom Assault

Columban College has launched an investigation into a viral classroom incident involving students, reaffirming its strict policy against bullying and all forms of violence on campus.

In a statement released Thursday, the Catholic educational institution said it began investigating the incident on the same day it occurred, although it did not disclose the exact date.

The probe followed the circulation of a video on social media showing a male student being physically assaulted by another student inside a classroom.

During the altercation, the alleged aggressor was seen striking the victim with a chair, which appeared to hit the student’s head.

School officials said the victim was immediately taken to the school clinic for medical treatment. The student’s parent was also offered free psychological intervention services.

The students allegedly involved and their parents were immediately summoned to an initial conference attended by the class adviser, strand coordinator, assistant school principal, and school principal.

Columban College said the case is undergoing the appropriate legal and institutional processes.

The viral video is among the evidence being reviewed by the Office of the School Principal in coordination with the college administration and the appropriate authorities.

The school appealed for public understanding and patience while due process is being observed.

It also assured parents, students, and the community that it remains committed to maintaining a safe, secure, and respectful learning environment.

The college stressed that it does not tolerate bullying, violence, harassment, or intimidation in any form.

It also urged parents and guardians to work closely with educators in promoting values formation, emphasizing that the family remains the primary foundation for instilling discipline, respect, and good character in children.
