The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has ordered airlines to prepare for possible flight schedule changes and airport operational adjustments during the 49th ASEAN Summit on Nov. 16 to 18, 2026, amid the expected arrival of delegates and heightened security measures.
In an advisory, CAB urged airlines to review their scheduled operations and coordinate with relevant airport authorities to ensure that any flight changes are necessary and minimize inconvenience to passengers.
Airlines were also instructed to notify affected passengers as early as possible of flight cancellations or adjustments through all available communication channels.
CAB said airlines must strictly comply with the Air Passenger Bill of Rights (APBR), particularly provisions covering the rights and entitlements of affected passengers, in addition to any goodwill assistance they may offer.
The agency also directed airlines to ensure adequate personnel are available to provide timely assistance to passengers affected by flight and operational changes.
Passengers, meanwhile, were urged to regularly check their flight status and monitor official government and airline advisories for updates. They were also advised to coordinate directly with their airlines regarding alternative travel arrangements in case of disruptions.
CAB also reminded travelers to allow sufficient time to reach the airport, citing possible traffic congestion, road closures, and enhanced security protocols during the summit.
“In anticipation of possible traffic, road closures and enhanced security protocols, passengers are also advised to allow sufficient travel time to complete check-in, security screening, and other airport procedures,” CAB said.
