Troops of the Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Division helped extinguish a fire that hit a Davao Metro Shuttle bus in Mawab, Davao de Oro, on Monday, June 29.
The bus, which was bound for New Bataan, caught fire at Km. 67 in Barangay Tuboran.
After receiving the report, Army personnel immediately proceeded to the area and deployed the division’s fire truck to assist the Bureau of Fire Protection and other responding agencies.
Authorities helped contain the blaze, secure the area, and ensure the safety of motorists and nearby residents. The fire was declared out at around 6:00 p.m.
No passengers were reported injured. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Maj. Gen. Alvin Luzon, commander of the 10th Infantry Division, said the response reflected the Army’s readiness to assist communities during emergencies.
“The swift response of our troops reflects the Philippine Army’s commitment to serve beyond its primary mission. Whenever lives are at risk, our soldiers stand ready to assist, protect, and support our communities alongside our partner agencies,” Luzon said.
The 10th Infantry Division said it will continue supporting local government units and partner agencies in emergency response and disaster management operations.
