Former public works secretary Manuel Bonoan was brought to the male medical ward of the PNP General Hospital for monitoring after his blood pressure rose, delaying his scheduled arraignment before the Sandiganbayan.
PNP Public Information Office chief Col. Allen Rae Co said Bonoan was endorsed to the hospital ward “for medical monitoring and care” shortly after arriving from the Sandiganbayan at around 4:30 p.m.
“The scheduled arraignment did not proceed after attending medical personnel raised concerns regarding his blood pressure, prompting a court-directed medical assessment,” Co said.
He said an initial evaluation showed Bonoan’s blood pressure at around 170/100. The Sandiganbayan medical doctor noted that the condition may have been stress-related and required continued monitoring.
Co said the court rescheduled Bonoan’s arraignment to 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
