A fire that struck a residential community along Dagupan Extension in Tondo, Manila, reached the fifth alarm on Tuesday afternoon as firefighters continued efforts to bring the blaze under control.
The Manila City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department said the fire was raised to the fifth alarm at 5:29 pm on July 14.
Drone footage released by the city government showed flames engulfing several houses in the densely populated neighborhood.
Personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection, supported by local government fire brigades and volunteer fire groups, remained at the scene to contain and extinguish the fire.
Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the blaze.
The number of affected families, possible casualties and the estimated cost of damage was not yet established.
