The New NAIA Infra Corp. said no major airport disruptions were reported after a Saudia aircraft preparing for departure struck a parked Philippine Airlines plane at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Tuesday night.

The private operator of the country’s main gateway said the incident occurred on the ground at about 11:38 p.m. on July 7.

Initial reports showed that Saudia Flight SV871, which was taxiing for departure, made contact with a parked PAL Airbus A320 after its wingtip struck the aircraft’s tail section at low speed.

“ No injuries to passengers, crew, or ground personnel were reported,” NNIC said.

“All passengers aboard the departing aircraft were safely disembarked. Saudia Flight SV871 was canceled, and the aircraft was towed to a designated bay for inspection. Both aircraft sustained damage that is now undergoing technical assessment. No airport infrastructure or ground equipment was damaged,” it added.

NNIC said its ground operations and safety teams immediately responded after the incident was reported. They secured the area and coordinated the repositioning of both aircraft.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines was also notified in accordance with established protocols.

“A full investigation is currently being conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident, including a review of airside communications, aircraft movement records, and other relevant operational data,” NNIC said.

NNIC said it is fully cooperating with the concerned airlines and aviation authorities to ensure a thorough and objective review of the incident.
