The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) collected P203.581 billion in gross revenues in September 2026, marking an increase of P20.056 billion or 10.93 percent compared to the same month last year.
Citing data as of October 13, the agency reported double-digit growth for the month, attributing the gains largely to voluntary tax compliance and enhanced taxpayer assistance programs.
BIR Commissioner Charlito Martin Mendoza credited the bureau’s Revenue Regions, Large Taxpayers Service, and support divisions for conducting proactive outreach to encourage timely and accurate tax payments.
“Our taxpayers are doing their part, and our revenuers are doing theirs. By reaching out and helping taxpayers comply correctly and on time, we are showing that good taxpayer service and stronger revenue collections go hand in hand,” Mendoza said.
Cumulative gross revenues from January to September reached P2.465 trillion, up by P130.372 billion or 5.58 percent from the P2.335 trillion recorded during the equivalent nine-month period in 2025.
Mendoza highlighted ongoing administrative reforms under the BIR DARES agenda designed to streamline compliance, including the launch of the Taxpayer Portal.
The agency has also conducted nationwide BIR CHAT, or Counsel, Help, Assist Taxpayers outreach sessions, to offer direct guidance to businesses and local communities.
“These initiatives support President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to bring government services closer to the people and Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go’s push for a more business-friendly environment,” Mendoza also said.
The BIR chief added that the agency will continue executing measures to make tax compliance more accessible, efficient, and responsive to the needs of the paying public.
