The 18 alleged former bodyguards of former Rep. Zaldy Co, together with their lawyer, Atty. Levito Baligod, showed up at the Senate on Monday morning but did not attend the Blue Ribbon Committee meeting.
Sen. Erwin Tulfo said he received information that Baligod and the 18 individuals were already inside the Senate building but opted to stay at the office of Sen. Robin Padilla instead of appearing before the committee.
Tulfo said invitations had been sent to Baligod and the group, but the committee could not compel them to attend because the proceeding was only a “consultative meeting.”
“Yung 18 na ex-bodyguards ay narito po sa building na ito, nasa tanggapan po ni Sen. Robin Padilla kasama pa si Atty Baligod, despite sa invitation na pinadala sa kanila, mas minabuti po nilang magtungo sa office ni Sen. Padilla at doon ay ika nga mag-monitor at ma-live din yung 18 ika nga bodyguard at magpa-presscon (The 18 former bodyguards are here in the [Senate] building, at the office of Sen. Robin Padilla, together with Atty. Baligod. Despite our invitation sent to them, they chose to go to the office of Sen. Padilla to monitor the hearing and have a press conference),” Tulfo said during the Senate meeting.
