The 11th Infantry “Alakdan” Division of the Philippine Army conducted the Junior Non-Commissioned Officer Leadership Symposium (JNCOLS) CY 2026 at the Alakdan Mess Hall, Kuta Heneral Teodulfo Bautista, Barangay Busbus, Jolo, Sulu, on June 16, 2026.

The one-day activity brought together Junior NCOs from the division’s subordinate units to strengthen leadership competencies, reinforce military values, and prepare personnel for greater responsibilities in a dynamic operational environment.

Organized by the Office of the Division Sergeant Major under Chief Master Sgt. Felipe B. Bautista Jr., the symposium underscored the critical role of Junior NCOs in maintaining discipline, building unit cohesion, and ensuring mission effectiveness.

Col. Ronaldo C. Mateo, Chief of Staff of the 11th Infantry Division, served as keynote speaker during the opening program. He stressed that Junior NCOs serve as the backbone of the organization, translating command guidance into action through discipline, professionalism, and leadership by example.

The symposium featured discussions on leadership roles in modern warfare, military courtesy and discipline, professionalism, and financial management, along with an information drive led by the AMWSLAI Office.

In his message during the closing ceremony, Maj. Gen. Leonardo I. Peña, commander of the 11th Infantry Division and Joint Task Force Orion, emphasized the importance of developing competent, values-driven Junior NCOs capable of meeting evolving security challenges.

“Leadership is not defined by rank alone but by your ability to inspire, guide, and set the example for your fellow soldiers,” Peña said. “As Junior NCOs, you are the backbone of our organization and the vital link that transforms command intent into mission success.”

The Army said the symposium reflects the Alakdan Division’s continuing commitment to developing capable, mission-ready leaders in support of its peace and security mandate.
