Solon Donates Two Patrol Vehicles to BuCor in Palawan

A senator has turned over two patrol vehicles to the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) to support security operations at the Iwahig Penal Farm in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

The vehicles are intended to improve the mobility of BuCor personnel as they secure the prison facility and surrounding communities, especially with the expected increase in the number of persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) in Iwahig.

Represented by his deputy chief of staff Francis Tulfo, Senator Erwin Tulfo said the additional vehicles would help BuCor personnel cover the area more efficiently, particularly during nighttime operations.

“It is expected that more PDLs will be placed here. We need to ensure that all bases are covered, including the mobility of personnel for the safety of the communities around Iwahig and the fulfillment of BuCor’s mandate,” he said.

The turnover came after the solon attended the groundbreaking of a new 10-hectare prison facility in Iwahig last April.

He said support for BuCor should go beyond legislation, adding that practical assistance such as transport vehicles can help address immediate operational needs.

“Please know that our work does not end here. Whether it is through passing new laws or giving actual solutions like these transport vehicles, we are always here for you,” he said.

He added that the government has a duty to help BuCor carry out its mandate, particularly in maintaining security and improving prison management.
