CIDG Seizes P1.36M in Bulacan LPG Refilling Raid

A warehouse in Barangay Loma de Gato allegedly being used for unauthorized LPG refilling was raided by authorities on May 21, leading to the arrest of three employees and the seizure of P1.36 million worth of equipment and LPG-related evidence.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) said operatives from its Northern Metro Manila District Field Unit, together with local police units, implemented a search warrant from 3:20 p.m. to 6:13 p.m. at the warehouse in Likod Bisita.

The operation was carried out for alleged violations of Republic Act No. 11592, or the LPG Industry Regulation Act.

Authorities arrested three suspects identified only as “Tina,” “Ram,” and “Dan,” all of legal age and employees of the warehouse.

Based on a report submitted to CIDG Director PMGen. Robert AA Morico II, the suspects were allegedly caught in the act of refilling liquefied petroleum gas cylinders without authorization from LPG brand owners.

Seized during the operation were nine refilling heads with weighing scale and LPG hose, a refilling hose, motor compressor, and Phoenix cylinder tank, with an estimated total value of P1.36 million.

The CIDG said the refilling of LPG cylinders without authority from brand owners is illegal under RA 11592, which seeks to regulate the LPG industry, protect consumers, ensure product integrity, and uphold public safety standards.

CIDG officials said unauthorized LPG refilling poses serious risks to consumers because improperly handled or uncertified cylinders may lead to leaks, fires, or explosions.

The CIDG commended PCOL John K. Guiagui, regional chief of CIDG Regional Field Unit-National Capital Region, and the CIDG Metro Manila Northern District Field Unit led by PLTCOL Benedick S. Poblete for the operation.

The agency said it will continue pursuing illegal trade activities and unauthorized LPG operations as part of its law enforcement mandate and public safety efforts.
