The Philippine Army and the German Army have opened their first-ever expert talks aimed at exploring possible areas of cooperation, particularly in military education and training.

The inaugural Philippine Army-German Army Expert Talks were held at the Philippine Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City.

The Philippine delegation was led by Col. Benjamin Leander, Assistant Chief of Staff for Plans, G5, while the German side was headed by Col. David Gilardy, chief of the German Army International Cooperation Branch.

The talks served as an initial platform for both armies to identify areas of mutual interest and possible cooperation. Officials said the discussions helped build goodwill and trust while laying the groundwork for future agreements, including possible terms of reference.

Following the plenary presentation and caucus, both sides formally signed the minutes of the meeting.

The Philippine Army said the engagement forms part of its effort to strengthen international partnerships and develop its personnel and institutional capabilities.

Guided by its principle, “Our Strength is Our People,” the Army said it remains committed to investing in soldiers and building a more capable, world-class military organization.
