Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group arrested three wanted persons, including two top most wanted fugitives facing carnapping charges, during separate intelligence-driven operations in Quezon City, Isabela, and Baguio City on May 14.

Authorities said two of the suspects were wanted for violation of Republic Act 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.

In San Mateo, Isabela, joint operatives from the Isabela Provincial Highway Patrol Team and the San Mateo Police Station arrested the Top 1 Most Wanted Person of the Regional Highway Patrol Unit 2 at around 9:50 a.m.

The suspect, a 30-year-old collector from San Mateo, was arrested by virtue of a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 20 in Cauayan City, Isabela. Bail was set at P300,000.

In a separate operation along Katipunan Avenue corner Aurora Boulevard in Loyola Heights, Quezon City, intelligence operatives from RHPU-NCR arrested a Provincial and Municipal Top 1 Most Wanted Person also facing charges under the Anti-Carnapping Act.

The suspect, a 53-year-old resident of Tondo, Manila, was apprehended through a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 118 in Pasay City, with bail likewise fixed at P300,000.

Police said the operation was carried out after coordination with the Regional Tactical Operations Center of the National Capital Region Police Office for intelligence validation.

Meanwhile, in Baguio City, operatives from the Nueva Ecija Provincial Highway Patrol Team arrested a 47-year-old businessman from Llanera, Nueva Ecija, who was wanted for estafa.

Authorities said the suspect was arrested through a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court-NCJR Branch 231 in Pasay City. No bail was recommended for the case.

All arrested individuals are now under police custody pending documentation and turnover to the issuing courts.

Rommel Batangan emphasized the importance of sustained intelligence-driven operations against wanted persons involved in carnapping and other crimes.

“The PNP-HPG remains relentless in tracking down wanted persons and intensifying intelligence-driven operations to ensure that offenders are brought before the courts,” Batangan said.

The HPG also urged the public to continue cooperating with authorities by reporting the whereabouts of wanted persons and suspicious activities in their communities.
