A man wanted for alleged involvement in a carnapping case was arrested during a joint manhunt operation conducted by the Philippine National Police–Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) in Capiz.

The suspect, a resident of Baliuag, Bulacan, was apprehended in Barangay Ivisan at around 2:41 pm by operatives of the Provincial Highway Patrol Team (PHPT)-Capiz, together with personnel from HPG units in Aklan and Antique, as well as local police units.

Authorities said the arrest was carried out on the strength of a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 15 in Naic, Cavite for violation of Republic Act No. 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016.

The warrant, issued in September 2025, carried no recommended bail.

Following his arrest, the suspect was taken to the Ivisan Municipal Police Station for documentation and proper disposition before being turned over to the issuing court.

PNP-HPG director Brig. Gen. Rommel Batangan said the operation highlights the group’s intensified campaign against motor vehicle-related crimes and wanted persons involved in carnapping activities.

He stressed the importance of intelligence-driven operations and coordination among police units in tracking down suspects facing criminal charges.

The HPG also urged the public to continue supporting law enforcement efforts by reporting suspicious vehicle-related activities and the whereabouts of wanted individuals.
