Foreign National Arrested for Illegal Recruitment in Baguio City

A foreign national accused of involvement in an illegal recruitment syndicate was arrested in Baguio City following a coordinated police operation, authorities said.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) identified the suspect as a Pakistani national who was apprehended at around 7:30 pm on May 2 along Kennon Road in Camp 7. The arrest was carried out by joint operatives from several police units, including the Rosario Municipal Police Station, the Batangas Provincial Police Office’s 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company, the Special Operations Division, and elements of the Highway Patrol Group.

Police said the operation was conducted by virtue of a warrant of arrest for illegal recruitment, with no bail recommended. The suspect is currently under the custody of the Rosario Municipal Police Station for documentation and inquest proceedings.

PNP chief Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the arrest underscores the agency’s commitment to go after individuals and groups involved in exploiting job seekers.

“This arrest sends a clear message that the law will catch up with those who exploit others for profit,” he said, adding that authorities will continue pursuing syndicates targeting Filipinos.

The PNP noted that the operation is part of its broader campaign against illegal recruitment and organized crime, with a focus on dismantling networks that prey on vulnerable individuals and erode public trust.

Authorities reiterated that both local and foreign offenders will be held accountable under Philippine law as enforcement efforts continue.
