The House Committee on Justice unanimously approved the committee report containing the Articles of Impeachment against Vice President Sara Duterte on a 55-0 vote.
Panel members concluded that Duterte may be held liable for graft, constitutional violations, betrayal of public trust, and other high crimes, forming the basis of the Articles of Impeachment.
The approved report will go straight to the plenary, where lawmakers will debate the findings and determine whether the case will move to the next stage of the constitutional process.
Under the rules, at least 106 members of the House must vote in favor of the impeachment complaint. It will then be transmitted to the Senate, which will then convene as an impeachment court.
If convicted, Duterte could be removed from office and permanently barred from holding any position in public service.
