Telcos Boost Backup Power Systems to Keep Networks Running During Outages

As power disruptions continue to impact service reliability, Globe Telecom has intensified its network preparedness to sustain connectivity and accelerate restoration in affected areas.

Efforts have been strengthened in parts of the Visayas and Mindanao, where extended power interruptions can significantly affect connectivity.

“Our priority is to ensure that our network remains available, especially during challenging conditions when people depend on it the most,” said Cris Crisostomo, vice president for Network Operations and Assurance.

He said the company is focused on sustaining services for longer periods during outages while improving response times.

Field engineers remain central to these efforts, with teams deployed nationwide to monitor network performance, secure infrastructure, and carry out restoration work under demanding conditions.

“We prepare ahead of time so we can respond immediately and minimize the impact on the communities we serve,” said Mark Jurial, Globe Regional Operations in Mindanao.

Coordination with agencies such as the Department of Energy, National Power Corporation, and the Department of Information and Communications Technology is also being strengthened to support continuous operations during disruptions.

As outages persist, network resilience is becoming a critical focus for telcos, particularly during emergencies when connectivity is essential for communication, access to information, and public safety.
