5 Drug Suspects Nabbed in QC Ops; P159K Shabu, Gun Recovered

Police arrested five suspected drug personalities and seized more than P159,000 worth of illegal drugs in separate buy-bust operations, the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said Friday.

In a statement, the QCPD said the operations, conducted under District Director Police Colonel Randy Glenn Silvio, led to the confiscation of 23.415 grams of suspected shabu valued at P159,222.

District Drug Enforcement Unit chief Police Major Elvin Ballesteros said two suspects—identified by aliases “Catherine,” 43, and “Jhon Mark,” 28—were arrested in an early morning operation in Barangay Paltok.

Operatives conducted a buy-bust at around 6:45 a.m. along Ilagan Street, where an undercover officer purchased P500 worth of suspected shabu from “Jhon Mark.” The operation resulted in the seizure of about 15.72 grams of shabu worth P106,896, along with a mobile phone and marked money.

Police said both suspects have prior cases for violations of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

In a separate operation, personnel from the Project 4 Police Station, led by Police Captain Brian Jaime, arrested three more suspects—aliases “Mark,” 19; “Lee,” 18; and “Allan,” 52—along P. Burgos Street in Barangay Escopa III.

Authorities recovered approximately 7.695 grams of suspected shabu worth P52,326, along with a coin purse, a mobile phone, and buy-bust money. A Colt .45 caliber pistol with a loaded magazine containing three rounds of ammunition was also seized from “Mark.”

The suspects will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, while “Mark” will also be charged under Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

“The QCPD reaffirms its commitment to intensifying anti-illegal drug operations to build safer communities,” Silvio said, urging the public to report suspicious activities through E911 or QC Helpline 122.

All suspects are in police custody as charges are being prepared for filing before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
