Marcos Honors Filipino Workers on Labor Day

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. paid tribute to Filipino workers on Friday, describing them as the backbone of the nation and reaffirming his administration’s push for better job opportunities, stronger labor protections, and inclusive growth.

In his Labor Day message, Marcos emphasized the vital role workers play in sustaining both the country and the global economy, noting that their contributions remain essential despite rapid technological and industrial changes.

He said the dedication and sacrifices of Filipino workers provide stability to families and strength to the nation, stressing that Labor Day should go beyond symbolic recognition and serve as a reminder of the shared responsibility of government and the private sector to create meaningful opportunities.

The President called for continued efforts to uphold fair labor practices, protect livelihoods, and ensure that economic progress benefits ordinary Filipinos. He assured workers that his administration remains committed to policies that generate quality employment, enhance worker welfare, and expand access to opportunities.

Marcos added that placing workers at the center of the national agenda is key to building a more equitable and hopeful “Bagong Pilipinas.”

As part of the celebration, the President is leading the 124th Labor Day program themed “Disenteng Trabaho Para sa Lahat” in General Santos City, where more than 115,000 job opportunities are being offered to job seekers.

He is also scheduled to launch the “Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” initiative, a program that will provide financial assistance to local government units down to the barangay level nationwide.

Later in the day, Marcos will receive Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, president of the Olympic Council of Asia, for a courtesy call at Malacañang.
