LTFRB Details Organized Fuel Subsidy Rollout for Taxi Drivers

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) outlined the system used to distribute fuel subsidies to taxi drivers during a two-day payout on April 24–25, 2026.

In a statement, LTFRB Board Member Greg Pua Jr. said two payout centers were set up to speed up and organize the distribution. Drivers included in the official list, based on data submitted by operators, claimed their subsidy at the LTFRB Central Office, while those not listed were accommodated at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) Activity Center.

The LTFRB said more than 15,000 taxi drivers were initially targeted for the payout, but only about 8,300 were able to claim their subsidy during the scheduled dates. A separate distribution conducted on March 24–25, 2026 through an e-wallet system benefited around 6,000 drivers.

“The fuel subsidy program is funded under the ₱2.5-billion allocation from the 2025 General Appropriations Act, with over 47,800 beneficiaries nationwide based on franchise holders’ records,” Pua said.

He added that operator-drivers are allowed to receive the subsidy only once and advised beneficiaries to claim as drivers, which entitles them to ₱5,000, compared with ₱2,000 if claimed as operators.

The LTFRB said the payout was carried out in an orderly manner with support from partner agencies, including the LTO, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Red Cross – Quezon City Chapter, and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Pua called for continued coordination among stakeholders to further improve the subsidy distribution system.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts under the directive of Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to cushion the impact of rising fuel prices and support public transport operations.
