A nationwide security operation maintaining full-alert status successfully secured the millions of Filipinos honoring departed relatives over the Undas holiday.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that the nationwide observance of Undas 2026 proceeded without major security lapses, attributing the outcome to early operational planning, agency coordination, and public compliance.
PNP Chief Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said field evaluations confirmed security protocols effectively managed potential bottlenecks and safety risks across transportation corridors and crowding sites.
“Based on reports from the ground, this year’s Undas was generally peaceful and orderly, reflecting the discipline of our personnel and the cooperation of the public. Our priority was to ensure people could honor their loved ones safely, and we are encouraged by the results of our collective efforts,” Nartatez said.
The police force deployed a total of 166,365 personnel alongside civilian force multipliers across key strategic points nationwide.
Deployment focused on high-density areas including cemeteries, columbaria, religious sites, primary thoroughfares, intermodal transport hubs, popular tourist destinations, and security checkpoints.
Nartatez acknowledged the field personnel who provided security, traffic control, and assistance desks while under full-alert status.
“To every police officer who stood on duty while others were with their families, I extend my deepest gratitude. Your sacrifice reflects the highest meaning of public service and the trust that the Filipino people place in the PNP,” Nartatez also said.
