A sweeping security network will blanket Metro Manila through early November as law enforcement authorities implement a full alert status to safeguard millions of holiday travelers visiting cemeteries and heading to regional provinces.
To manage the massive movement of people and mitigate potential risks at key transit points and gathering areas, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) is mobilizing more than 13,000 police personnel from October 30 to November 3.
“Our people can go home and visit their departed loved ones with peace of mind. The NCRPO is 101 percent ready, and our personnel will be where the public needs us most,” NCRPO Officer-in-Charge Police Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano said.
Under the heightened operational posture, police districts across the capital region have been mandated to scale up foot and mobile patrols around transportation terminals, major thoroughfares, commercial hubs, cemeteries, and memorial parks.
To prevent traffic gridlock and maintain orderly crowd flow, the regional police force is aligning operations with local government units, traffic authorities, emergency responders, cemetery administrators, and transportation groups.
Dedicated police assistance desks and help booths are being set up at strategic points across Metro Manila to handle emergency responses, provide directions, and address public reports on the spot.
Law enforcement units will focus specifically on deterring opportunistic offenses such as theft, robbery, pickpocketing, and scams in densely populated zones.
Authorities advised citizens to practice heightened caution by securing personal items, refraining from displaying valuable items, keeping close watch over children and elderly relatives, adhering to cemetery rules, and immediately notifying nearby officers of suspicious activity or unattended bags.
“We ask our kababayans to cooperate with our police officers and partner agencies. Undas is a time for remembrance and family, and we want every Filipino to honor their departed loved ones safely and peacefully. Our police officers are ready to assist, serve, and protect,” PBGen. Abrahano also said.
The NCRPO reiterated that public safety operations will run continuously across all districts to ensure an orderly observance throughout Metro Manila.
