KATSEYE leader Sophia Laforteza is expected to rejoin the global girl group in the first week of January 2027 following a health-related hiatus, management HYBE x Geffen announced.
In an official notice released on October 8, the label confirmed the timeline for the Filipino-American singer’s return while clarifying that she will remain absent from the group’s promotional schedules for the rest of 2026.
“We are happy to share that Sophia will resume group activities with KATSEYE beginning the first week of January 2027,” HYBE x Geffen stated. “Sophia has been prioritizing her health and well-being with our full support and resources. We look forward to welcoming her back as KATSEYE continues this next chapter together in 2027.”
Laforteza temporarily stepped back from group engagements in August 2026 to focus on her health and recovery. Her continued break means she will sit out the North American leg of the group’s headlining THE WILDWORLD TOUR, as well as year-end promotional appearances.
In a message addressed to fans, Laforteza expressed deep gratitude for their patience and understanding throughout her hiatus. She shared that the time away has allowed her to receive necessary medical care, build personal support routines, and train toward her eventual stage return.
While acknowledging that missing tour dates with her bandmates was a difficult decision, Laforteza reaffirmed her commitment to returning fully prepared, expressing excitement to reunite with members Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Manon Bannerman, and Yoonchae Jeung.
Formed through the global audition program The Debut: Dream Academy, the six-member ensemble will continue touring and promotional activities as a five-member lineup for the remainder of the year. Management is expected to release specific comeback schedules closer to her January 2027 return.
