The National Bureau of Investigation has opened its new Bicol Regional Office and Training Center in Legazpi City to strengthen its regional presence and improve the training of law enforcement personnel in the region.

NBI Director Melvin Matibag led the inauguration, together with Bicol Regional Director Yehlen Agus, Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Alfredo Garbin, Legazpi City Mayor Hisham Ismail, San Jose Mayor Jerold Peña, NBI deputy and assistant directors, and former regional directors.

Matibag thanked Garbin for his support in the development of NBI facilities in Bicol.

He also announced that the training center will be renamed the NBI Academy in Legazpi City, which will serve as a training institution for future NBI agents, investigators and leaders.

The NBI said the facility is part of its continuing efforts to improve operational readiness, expand its regional capability and promote higher standards in law enforcement through modern infrastructure and quality training.
