PAL Cancels Riyadh Flights Following Houthi Attacks on Saudi Airports

Philippine Airlines (PAL) suspended its scheduled flights between Manila and Riyadh on Thursday, citing heightened security risks following recent missile and drone attacks on two major airports in Saudi Arabia.

The flag carrier confirmed the cancellation of flight PR654 from Manila to Riyadh scheduled for October 8, 2026, alongside its corresponding return flight, PR655, from Riyadh to Manila on October 10.

Operational teams are actively monitoring regional airspace safety and evaluating airport conditions to determine the status of succeeding flight schedules. PAL assured that affected passengers are being notified directly regarding rebooking, rerouting, or refund options.

“We recognize the inconvenience and concern these cancellations may cause our passengers,” the airline said in a statement, emphasizing that safety protocols dictate flight adjustments during volatile security situations.

“The safety and well-being of passengers and crew remain our highest priority,” the flag carrier added, promising further updates as the situation develops.

The flight suspensions follow targeted strikes claimed by Yemen’s Houthi movement against Saudi maritime and aviation infrastructure. According to the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), separate attacks hit Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

GACA confirmed that the military strikes resulted in three civilian fatalities and left 36 others injured.
