Members of the House prosecution panel have called on the public to closely monitor whether former senator Antonio Trillanes IV’s claims regarding the alleged wealth of Vice President Sara Duterte align with official documentary evidence presented in court.
Lead impeachment prosecutor Representative Gerville Luistro noted that while Trillanes has shared his narrative, the prosecution team relies on authenticated records and sworn testimonies.
“And what is important para sa ating mga kababayan ay bantayan po natin kung magtutugma ang kwento sa resibo,” she said.
She also said, “Perhaps it will be part of our references. Because in terms of evidence, I think the prosecution’s witnesses are ready to present the records.”
The statement follows Trillanes’ decision to step back from appearing as a witness in the ongoing trial. Trillanes subsequently went public with allegations regarding unexplained assets and bank transactions linked to the Vice President.
House prosecutors clarified that independent witnesses, including financial investigators and representatives from the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC), are prepared to submit primary financial documents directly under oath to establish the facts of the case.
