A near-majority of Filipinos favor a theoretical presidential and vice-presidential ticket of Vice President Sara Duterte and Senator Robin Padilla over Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo and Senator Bam Aquino for the 2028 national elections, according to a nationwide survey released by OCTA Research.
The second-quarter Tugon ng Masa (TNM) survey, conducted face-to-face from July 4 to 11 among 1,200 adult respondents nationwide, showed that 48 percent would vote for a Duterte-Padilla tandem if elections were held today.
The pairing held a 12-percentage-point advantage over a Robredo-Aquino partnership, which garnered 36 percent support. Meanwhile, 16 percent of respondents remained undecided.
Despite the lead, OCTA Research highlighted that the 12-point margin represents the narrowest gap recorded between the two theoretical pairings since monitoring began.
“In previous commissioned surveys conducted in 2025, the gap between the tandem of VP Sara Duterte–Sen. Robin Padilla and the tandem of VP Leni Robredo–Sen. Bam Aquino had ranged from approximately 20 to 25 points, indicating a narrowing trend heading into 2028,” OCTA Research noted.
The survey has a margin of error of ±3 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.
