A clear majority of Filipinos express confidence in their district lawmakers, with 64 percent rating their local representative’s performance as satisfactory, according to findings from OCTA Research’s latest Tugon ng Masa survey released on Monday.

The poll, conducted from July 4 to 11 among 1,200 adult respondents nationwide, revealed that six out of ten Filipinos believe their current district representative “is doing a good job.” In contrast, 27 percent said their representative is “doing badly,” while 9 percent were undecided. The survey carried a margin of error of ±3 percent.

Favorable ratings were consistent across geographic sectors, led by the Visayas with a 68 percent approval rating. Approval stood at 65 percent in Mindanao, 63 percent in Balance Luzon, and 60 percent in the National Capital Region (NCR).

On the other hand, dissatisfaction levels peaked in Metro Manila, where 30 percent of respondents voiced disapproval. This was followed by Mindanao at 28 percent, Balance Luzon at 27 percent, and the Visayas at 25 percent.

Across economic brackets, approval was most pronounced among Class D (73 percent) and Class E (72 percent), while Class ABC registered 62 percent approval. Dissatisfaction among socioeconomic tiers was highest in Class D at 28 percent, followed by Class ABC at 27 percent, and Class E at 25 percent.

Age demographics showed widespread approval across all generations, led by respondents aged 65 to 74 at 72 percent. Young adults aged 18 to 24 followed at 66 percent, while those aged 35 to 44 logged 65 percent approval. The 45-to-54 and 55-to-64 age brackets each scored 63 percent, while respondents aged 25 to 34 and 75 and above recorded 60 percent.

Disapproval ratings by age were highest among those aged 25 to 34 and 55 to 64, both standing at 30 percent. They were followed by the 18-to-24 cohort at 29 percent, 45 to 54 at 27 percent, 35 to 44 at 24 percent, 65 to 74 at 23 percent and 75 and above at 22 percent.

Demographic breakdowns showed approval was balanced across urban and rural divides, as well as between genders. Rural areas reported 65 percent satisfaction compared to 63 percent in urban areas, while male and female respondents both recorded a 64 percent approval rate.

Educational background also factored into the survey results, with the highest satisfaction found among respondents with no formal or elementary education at 67 percent. College or postgraduate degree holders followed closely at 65 percent, high school graduates at 64 percent and vocational education graduates at 58 percent.
