The Senate on Monday approved on third and final reading five resolutions concurring in the accession and ratification of international treaties covering aviation security, criminal justice cooperation, space liability, higher education qualifications and cross-border taxation.

Voting unanimously with a 19-0-0 tally, lawmakers approved Senate Resolution Nos. 622, 624, 625, 626 and 628, significantly bolstering the country’s global cooperation framework across multiple sectors.

Senate Resolution No. 622 concurs in the accession to the Protocol to Amend the Convention on Offences and Certain Other Acts Committed on Board Aircraft, strengthening the international legal framework governing offenses on flights and addressing modern aviation security threats.

Senate Resolution No. 624 concurs in the ratification of the Philippine-India Treaty on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters, establishing formal channels for joint investigation, prosecution, and prevention of criminal activities between the two nations.

Senate Resolution No. 625 concurs in the ratification of the Convention on International Liability for Damage Caused by Space Objects, establishing a legal mechanism for the Philippines to claim compensation for damage caused by foreign space objects while setting liability, insurance, and indemnification guidelines for commercial space endeavors.

Senate Resolution No. 626 concurs in the country’s accession to the Asia-Pacific Regional Convention on the Recognition of Qualifications in Higher Education, ensuring fair and transparent recognition of Filipino higher education credentials abroad to boost academic and professional mobility across the region.

Senate Resolution No. 628 concurs in the ratification of the Philippines–Cambodia Agreement on the Elimination of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Fiscal Evasion with respect to Taxes on Income, mitigating tax burdens on cross-border transactions and promoting bilateral economic and trade relations.

The passage of these five resolutions advances the Philippines’ participation in international agreements, strengthening diplomatic ties, providing legal certainty, and expanding global opportunities for Filipino citizens and businesses.
