At least 43 people have died, five remain missing, and over 10 million individuals across eight regions are reeling from weeks of torrential rainfall and destructive flooding caused by the enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) and a successive barrage of tropical cyclones Luis, Maymay, Neneng and Pilandok. According to the latest situation update from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), released at 6:00 PM on September 5, 2026, the combined weather systems have triggered severe landslides, flash floods and massive infrastructure damage across Central Luzon, the Cordilleras, and Southern Tagalog.

The NDRRMC confirmed 43 fatalities, 20 injuries, and five missing persons, with landslides in high-risk mountainous areas and drowning in low-lying agricultural provinces accounting for the majority of casualties. Benguet emerged as the hardest-hit province with 15 deaths, including 10 landslide victims in Baguio City, three in Atok and two in La Trinidad, along with 13 reported injuries. Landslides and rockslides also claimed lives in Rizal, Zambales, Pangasinan, Pampanga and Batangas. Fatalities due to drowning and severe weather incidents were recorded in Caloocan, Quezon Province, Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, La Union and Negros Occidental. Emergency teams continue search operations for missing individuals in Quezon City, Manila, Batangas City, Rodriguez and Porac.

The storm system has inundated 659 areas across Regions I, III, V, VI, CALABARZON, CAR, NCR and MIMAROPA, affecting 6,870 barangays. The displaced population includes 2.9 million families or 10.2 million individuals, with 814 active evacuation centers currently sheltering 18,229 families comprising 62,791 persons. Property destruction remains widespread, with a total of 4,467 houses damaged, 585 of which were completely destroyed.

To accelerate relief operations and enforce price freezes on basic goods, local government units have declared a State of Calamity across 180 jurisdictions. Province-wide declarations cover Pangasinan, Bulacan, Cavite, Pampanga, Tarlac, Benguet, Zambales and Bataan, alongside independent declarations in cities such as Olongapo, Angeles, Dagupan, and several towns in Rizal, Batangas and Occidental Mindoro.

The national economy has taken a severe blow, with total preliminary damages reaching over P11.4 billion. Infrastructure losses account for P7.79 billion in destroyed roads, bridges and flood control systems, while agricultural damage stands at P3.62 billion in ruined crops and farmland. In response, national agencies and local governments have mobilized P2.14 billion in direct assistance, prioritizing food packs, clean water and medical aid for displaced families in hard-hit zones.
