House Trust, Performance Ratings Improve in Latest OCTA Survey

Rising public trust and satisfaction ratings for the House of Representatives reflect a growing appreciation among Filipinos for the chamber’s quiet, steady focus on lawmaking, Senior Deputy Speaker and South Cotabato Rep. Ferdinand “Dinand” L. Hernandez said.

Hernandez made the statement following the release of the latest OCTA Research Tugon ng Masa survey, which recorded key upward movements in the leadership and performance metrics of the House under Speaker Faustino “Bojie” G. Dy III.

According to the nationwide poll conducted from July 4 to 11 among 1,200 adult respondents, public trust in the House rose to 38 percent in the second quarter of 2026, up from 36 percent in the first quarter. Distrust dropped significantly by five percentage points, falling from 33 percent to 28 percent.

Public satisfaction with the chamber’s performance also climbed to 37 percent from 35 percent, while dissatisfaction declined from 35 percent to 32 percent.

“This is an encouraging sign that the Filipino people are beginning to see and appreciate the work being done by the House under the leadership of Speaker Bojie Dy,” Hernandez said.

“The Speaker has never been one to seek praise or make grand claims about what we have accomplished. His approach has always been simple: keep our heads down, focus on the work, and allow the results to speak for themselves,” he added, recalling Dy’s statement during a legislative town hall in Isabela: “May survey o wala, trabaho lang kami” (With or without surveys, we just work).

Under Dy’s guidance, the House has already passed 28 priority measures identified by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC), advancing critical legislation targeting national economic growth and social welfare. Hernandez noted that committee and plenary work continues daily to refine measures aimed at strengthening public accountability and streamlining government services.

While welcoming the survey gains, the Senior Deputy Speaker emphasized that lawmakers view the numbers as motivation rather than a signal to slow down, particularly given the portion of the population that remains undecided.

“We are grateful for the improvement, but our work is far from finished. Trust is something we must earn every day through the passage of meaningful laws and the delivery of concrete results,” Hernandez said, attributing the progress to the collective effort of House members, committee officials and legislative staff.

The OCTA Research survey carries a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage at a 95% confidence level.
