Globe Telecom Inc. reported Wednesday that its active mobile data user base reached over 39.6 million in the first half of 2026, driven by surging demand for digital services ranging from video streaming and e-commerce to artificial intelligence applications.
The Ayala-led telecom firm saw average monthly mobile data usage climb to approximately 17 gigabytes per subscriber during the period, up from 15 GB recorded in the same period last year. Globe noted that the steady rise reflects deeper integration of digital activities into everyday life, elevating connectivity into a “fifth utility” alongside water, electricity, gas, and transportation.
This shift toward digital-first consumption boosted Globe’s bottom line, with data-driven revenues accounting for 91 percent of its consolidated gross service revenues in the first six months of the year.
“The way Filipinos use connectivity tells us we are progressively becoming a digital nation,” said Globe President and Chief Executive Carl Cruz. “We are grateful that more customers are choosing Globe to be part of their everyday lives. We will build on this trust by continuously improving our network and delivering experiences that customers can rely on.”
To handle the surge in network traffic and sustain performance quality, Globe poured P26.3 billion into capital expenditures during the first half of 2026 to expand its digital infrastructure and fortify capacity nationwide.
